Does NSIM accept new patients?
NSIM accepts all new patients over the age of 18. We ask that you check with your insurance carrier to make sure that the doctor you would like to see is covered by your plan.

When am I going to get the results from my blood tests?
Laboratory results are typically available 3 to 5 days after a blood test. Your doctor will get in touch with you if there is anything that needs to be discussed.

If you had a PT/INR, the office will contact you by the following day with Coumadin instructions.

When do the doctors at NSIM return phone calls?
NSIM physicians will return calls during the work day as their individual schedules permit. If they are unable to call during the work day, they will return calls after 5PM.

Why am I asked to come in 15 minutes early for an appointment?
Patients are asked to arrive 15 minutes before each appointment to fill out any necessary healthcare forms and to update all pertinent information such as a change of address or insurance provider.

Why do I have to pay a co-pay when I visit my doctor?
Your insurance company policy may require you to pay a co-pay at each visit. If this is the case, then the doctor’s contract with your insurance company requires that he or she collect that co-pay as part of the fee at each of your visits.

If I go to the hospital, will my doctor see me there?

NSIM physicians do not attend patients at the hospital. Your care will be coordinated with Hospitalists that are Board Certified Internists who work full time at the hospital to provide in-patient care. They, in turn, will coordinate with NSIM once you are ready for discharge.
